I Joined the Medium Partnership Program and Here’s How Much Money I Made My First Month

In mid-September, I made it to the 100-follower mark, one of my stories took off, and then shortly following the cash rolled in!

If you couldn’t feel the sarcasm dance off the page as you read, then let me elaborate. There are two truths and a lie in that sentence.

I hit the 100-follower mark, yes. The money came in, of course. Rolling in it?

That’s the lie.

Now it’s time for a picture or it didn’t happen… right?

But let’s discuss this.

Did I expect to roll in the dough? No.

But did I expect a cup of coffee accompanied by some ice water at my local Starbucks?

Absolutely.

In fact, that was the goal. And in my competitive nature, I of course became disappointed when I didn’t reach it. I’ve even reached a writer’s block of sorts. Because why write if 2 cents is all my words are worth? Thoughts of self-doubt have flooded my mind.
